Assembly and mounting across Columbus

Furniture Assembly and TV Mounting

Bed frames, bookcases, tables, consoles, shelving and wall-mounted TVs, put together square, anchored right and tested.

Chapter 01

Bed frames, bookcases and tables, built square

Bed frame assembly looks like a bag of bolts and a diagram, and the part that goes wrong is the order. Rails go on loose, the slats and centre support go in, and only then does everything get snugged down, so the frame does not rack and creak the first time someone sits on the edge. Older Columbus brick and frame houses often have bedroom floors that are not quite flat, so a finished frame gets checked for rock before it is called done.

Bookcase assembly is where tall furniture earns respect. A cam-lock bookcase goes together face down, the back panel is what squares it, and the anti-tip strap goes into a stud before a single book goes on a shelf. Table assembly is the same idea at ground level: legs set evenly, the top checked for wobble on a flat spot, and the feet or shims adjusted so a dining table does not rock under a plate.

Boxes get opened and the hardware counted against the sheet first, so a missing cam or dowel shows up at the start rather than at the last panel.

TV wall mounting and shelving that stay put

TV wall mounting starts with what is behind the drywall. Studs are found and marked, the mount's weight rating and hole pattern are checked against the screen, and the lag bolts go into wood, not into drywall anchors alone. In Central Ohio houses with plaster over lath, a stud finder can mislead, so a test hole in a hidden spot does the honest work.

The cable route is decided before the TV goes up: an in-wall kit with wall-rated cable, or a paint-matched raceway when the wall cannot be opened. Shelving gets the same care. Brackets land in framing, the line is leveled before any hole is drilled, and the heaviest load sits on the lowest shelf.

Chapter 03

Consoles with built-in fireplaces, and appliance installs

A TV console with a built-in electric fireplace is an assembly job with an electrical end. The console goes together square, the fireplace insert is seated in its opening, the unit is levelled against the wall, and then it is plugged in and run: heat, flame glow, remote, and the cord routed so it is not pinched behind the back panel. The finished console pictured on this page is one of those jobs.

Appliance installs follow the same close-out. The appliance sits level, the supply or cord is connected correctly, and it is run once before the work is signed off.
